David Celia (& Zuffalo)
On tour from Toronto to Paris, Glastonbury, England + Germany + Italy and more, “David Celia & Zuffalo” promise to transport you to a far way place and then bring you back again...
Introducing David Celia from the outskirts of Toronto, Canada: Described as an innovative lyricist/singer-songwriter and astonishing guitar player, known for his spontaneously driven live performance. He’s joined by his somewhat new Canadian backing band including Cliff Rutherford (drums) and 2 members of Zuffalo - Mikey and Kim - Bass/Keys/Vocal Harmonies.
He tours frequently across North America and Europe including several performances in Switzerland (Blue Balls Festival, Lucerne), Germany (Desertfest, Berlin + supporting Kiefer Sutherland), France (Festival le Rock dans touts ses États, Évreux), England (Glastonbury Festival) and many more.
He is quoted as "One of Toronto's best guitar players” by CBC Radio. David's music has consistently appeared on the CBC, BBC and WNYC in New York. Even the late legendary Gordon Lightfoot was a fan, then later a guiding friend.
David has performed live on BBC2’s highly regarded Bob Harris national radio show three times.
- “This Is Superb. A Gem” -Bob Harris. BBC Radio 2
- “David Celia is one of the best talents to hit Merseyside from North America” - Alex McKechnie, Cavern Club Liverpool, England
- “David is an incredible performer" -Hilly Krystal, Owner, CBGB’s , New York City
- “Haunting Melodies” - The Great Kreskin
- “I love the sentiment in your lyrics” - Gordon Lightfoot
In Canada, he's played at Hillside Festival, Ottawa's Tulip Festival, Mariposa Festival and many more. David's reputation as a guitarist has led him to play with many local Canadian artists in their bands, including legendary Alt-Country/folk singers Ian & Sylvia Tyson and acts diverse as Icelandic alt/pop star Emiliana Torrini. He even had a stint as the guitarist in Andy Kim’s band (The Archies) who were famous for the hit song “Sugar Sugar”.
His most recent releases are as Marla & David Celia with their debut album “Daydreamers”(2018) and sophomore “Indistinct Chatter“(2021), both self-produced and mixed by audio engineer L Stu Young who has worked with Prince and Guns and Roses. They’ve recently joined actor/musician Kiefer Sutherland as the support act for the second time in Germany, at Kiefer’s request.
David is currently working on his next album release and will be exploring some of those tunes on this tour.
